This is the most formal of evening attire. You don’t really see white tie specified on many invites, but just in case we wanted to include it.

Men: a long black dinner jacket often with a tail. Also, formal shirt with a white pique vest and a bow that matches. Wear formal black shoes that are squeaky clean and shiney. Back in the day this also meant carrying white gloves that are worn when dancing with your date.

Ladies: long evening gowns, ball gowns. White gloves are a good idea, too. But, take the gloves off when eating your meal.
