It’s hard to know what to pack for a cruise. Always take in consideration your cruise destination. Is it tropical? A colder climate? You don’t need to dress like a sailor to look like a pro. Think relaxed resort wear.
Men: This is a chance to bust out those tacky Hawaaian print shirts in the back of your closet. You can be casual, but on a cruise there’s much to do, so you need to have appropriate wardrobe. White or Khaki Cotton shorts, polo t-shirts in light colors, sandals all work well for daily activities. Please, no socks with those sandals, what is this, 1920? Bring those swim trunks! But for night time, a casual dinner jacket paired with jeans or slacks can go from dinner to dancing seamlessly.
Women: You’ve dieted for months to get that bikini body in shape- SHOW IT OFF! Long maxi dresses are both comfortable and beautiful and can be worn day or night. Leave the heels at home, its hard enough walking on a boat, why add the hassle of doing in on 4” points! A jeweled thong sandal, or a nice wedge serves you well in this kind of situation. Spray tan is a must, but shorts allow you the flexibility to do different activities on the ship. Any length works: mini, mid-thigh, knee-length; you know what works for your body. Tank tops and t-shirts, things that can slide easily over a swimsuit are great for your trip, and easy to pack.
