3…2…1…HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! New Year’s Eve is a time for new beginnings, fresh starts, commitments, friends, family, love, and fun sparkly outfits! New Year’s Eve parties range from small cozy house parties to grand, ball room, black tie events. No matter which type of party you are attending, we’ve got you covered. Cheers!
Cozy House Party – This party consists of a small group of people. It was probably a last minute decision, so the dress code will probably not be very fancy. Always ask beforehand! Dress Code: Classic
Ladies: You can easily get away with just wearing jeans and a comfy sweater and dazzling things up with some sparkly earrings.
Gents: Wear jeans and a button down shirt or a sweater. No need to wear a sport coat, unless you really want to.
Big House Party – This party is probably an annual blow out and grows in size every year. They have been planning for a while, so people will dress up. These people want to go out and celebrate, but more than likely prefer being at someone’s house rather than paying to get into some overcrowded club. Dress Code: Cocktail Attire
Ladies: You can wear jeans with heels and a sequin shirt. Or, you can dress it up more and wear a fun cocktail dress with tights (or none!) and go all bling bling with your jewelry.
Gents: Jeans, dress shoes, PLAIN v-neck tee (with NO graffiti) or a thin sweater and a blazer. You will probably go back and forth from inside to outside, so a layer will keep you warm and cool. Plus, having a jacket to throw over a girl’s shoulders outside just might get you a kiss at midnight!
*Note: At either type of house party, you may be required, or just get the urge, to take off your shoes. So, guys, leave your holey socks at home and ladies, if your feet will be bare, make sure you have a pedicure! No one wants to see your stanky feet.
Bar – A bar party is more laid back than a club, but people still like to get dressed up. Check their website. The bar may require a cover charge and a dress code on NYE, even if they don’t normally. Dress Code: Hipster
Ladies: Leather leggings or cotton leggings with thigh-high leather boots are a great option! A loose fitting v-neck top with a sequin jacket or boyfriend blazer over top is perfect. Sparkle it up with jewelry or a studded clutch and some lace or leather gloves.
Gents: Jeans, button down shirt, and a blazer with elbow patches is hot! Those elbow patches make you look fancy, too.
Club – Definitely will have a cover charge, a dress code, and a line…just tell them you are with Wardrobe Wire, instant VIP access, baby! Dress code: Chic
Ladies: Cocktail dress or a sequin skirt will be the norm. Want to stand out? Wear liquid leather leggings and a bright, sequin top with sky high heels. Pair it with some major blinged out jewelry and an attitude to match. Another option is a leather mini dress accessorized with diamond and/or crystal jewelry and a fur cropped jacket. Another way to stand out? Wear a little white dress!
Gents: Stand out with a velvet jacket or (gasp) a suit! Yes, you can wear dress pants, a button down shirt, button vest, and a blazer. Don’t forget your pocket square!
Hall party – This type of event requires a ticket purchased in advance and usually serves dinner along with live music, drinks, and party supplies to ring in the New Year. This event will require you to dress up and may even be black tie. Call ahead if you’re not sure! Dress Code: Black Tie or Black Tie Optional
Ladies: This is your red carpet moment. Wear a floor length dress with a sparkly clutch and elegant jewelry. Cocktail dresses are also acceptable, just don’t go too short. Check out the website http://www.renttherunway.com/ to rent a designer dress for the night on the cheap! You can wear some nice leather or lace mits and keep them on all night long, dah-ling!
Gents: Suit and tie. Period. Pocket square a must and leather driving gloves will seal the deal, my friend!
